Accounting Clerk - Vancouver, BC  

S.J. Kernaghan Adjusters Ltd. is a well established professional independent insurance adjusting firm with branch offices across Canada. Our head office, located in downtown Vancouver, is seeking a permanent part-time Administrative Support with a strong team focus, keen sense of urgency and ability to manage under pressure. In this versatile role you will work closely with the members of the corporate office team and with the branches across Canada.

Position requirements:

The accounting clerk is required to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to:

  • Provide support to the Controller
  • Deposit banking daily and record in accounting software
  • Accounts Receivable collection
  • Maintenance of vacation records
  • File and document management
  • Provide reception relief
  • Ordering and maintaining office supplies
  • Inventory control such as maintaining equipment records
  • Processing weekly and monthly reports
  • Collect and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and arrange couriers
  • Cheque requisitions and endorsements
  • Provide support to the Accountant, Executive Assistant, and Administrative Assistant as required
  • Be able to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Sage Accpac is an asset
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills and proficiency in English
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task in a fast paced office environment
  • A willingness to offer support when required and the ability to ‘think outside of the box’
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Must be a flexible and adaptable team player
  • Preference will be given to candidates with an insurance background and to those with a good sense of humor!
