Blair McGregor started his insurance industry career in 1983 as a Personal Lines Underwriter with the Canadian Indemnity Insurance Company. Over the years he has developed a recognized expertise for multi-line claims management and loss control. Blair’s first career move was to the St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company as a Commercial Lines Underwriter.  He became a Claims Adjuster and ultimately rose to become their BC Claims Representative.  By 1991, Blair accepted the position of BC ClaimS Manager for St. Paul Fire and Marine.  In 1998 Blair moved to The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company as a Senior Claims Examiner and in 1999 he was named the Pacific Region Claims Manager for Dominion of Canada.  In 2005 Blair accepted the appointment of Mainland Claims Manager for Canadian Northern Shield Insurance Company.    

Blair joined Kernaghan Adjusters as our Vancouver Branch Manager in March 2008.  Blair is an experienced, results-driven manager and leader.  He has a proven track record of dealing with complex claims issues and managing relations with Insureds, Insurers and Brokers.  Blair’s experience includes handling and supervising claims in all lines of commercial, personal and automobile insurance. He is comfortable handling either liability or property losses and he has experience with marine claims, E&O, fidelity and fraud investigations.  Blair holds the designation of a Chartered Insurance Professional and is working towards completion of his Fellowship.  Blair has undertaken many professional development courses related to insurance and finance including: The Canadian Securities course, Arson Investigators courses and Fraud Investigations courses, plus liability and legal seminars.

Blair also has a long career with the Canadian Forces Army Reserves where he gained significant experience in military and defence issues..  He obtained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel while he was the commanding officer for The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada (a Reserve Army Unit).  During his long army career Blair served as an infantry officer at all levels of command up to and including a Staff Officer, at brigade and divisional level.   Blair is a graduate of the Militia Command and Staff Course at Kingston.  In 2000 and 2001 he served as a Senior Staff Officer with the NATO Stabilization Force in Bosnia-Herzegovina, where he was responsible for reconstruction efforts within a Multi-National Division’s area of responsibility.  Blair is now retired from the Army Reserves, but maintains his military connection as Regimental Secretary of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. 

Blair is an avid reader of military history and political science.  He enjoys hiking, camping and fishing.  For many years, Blair was an active member of the Canadian Insurance Claims Managers Association, BC Chapter, having held the position of President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.  When cornered, and with no alternative, Blair has been known to venture onto golf courses in order to further the success of Kernaghan Adjusters. 

We are very pleased to have Blair in charge of our Vancouver Branch operations.  His ability to lead people and his recognized technical expertise gives KA a strong advantage in the British Columbia market place.
