Jim Magnan started his insurance industry career in 1963 as an independent adjuster in Fort Frances, Ontario.  He has held the position of Senior Adjuster, Examiner, and Claims Supervisor with insurance companies in Alberta and Manitoba.  Prior to re-entering the independent field, he held the position of Claims Controller for the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation.

Jim joined our Dryden, Ontario branch in 1981 and became Branch Manager in 1985.  He moved to our Winnipeg branch in 1988, and was later promoted to the position of Branch Manager.  He holds a Level 5 license and is also fully licensed in Ontario.  Jim has special adjusting expertise in a wide number of areas, including professional liability, premises liability, farm liability, commercial property, personal property, bodily injury, catastrophe claims, marine, business interruption, automobile losses, cargo/transportation, heavy equipment, environmental, and livestock.

Jim’s education includes Risk Management studies at the University of Winnipeg; insurance seminars on Engineering Evaluations in Claims Process, Employment Practices Liability, Institutional Sexual Abuse Claims, e-commerce risks, environmental liability, bond losses; and numerous courses in Business and Commerce  (University of Manitoba) and Business Law (Confederation College).

Jim is an active member of the Manitoba and Ontario Adjusters Association, the Insurance Institute of Manitoba, and the Loyal Order of Blue Goose, and the Canadian Independent Adjusters Association.
