Controller

Steve Pitkanen began his career in 1993 in the accounting department of a national retailer. In 1995 he joined Kernaghan Adjusters to work in Accounts Payable in the Head Office, and shortly afterwards he was entrusted with Payroll Administration.  In 1999, Steve was promoted to Assistant Controller, and in 2001 he was appointed to the position of Controller for the Company.

Steve graduated from Douglas College with an Accounting Management Diploma in 1994.  In December 2000, Steve was admitted as a certificated member of the Certified General Accountants Association.

In charge of the accounting and finance activities of the company, Steve’s responsibilities include preparing and analyzing financial reports, annual budget preparations, short-term and long term forecasts, controlling expenditures, safeguarding assets, maintaining internal controls, managing cash, and maximizing investment income. 

With over ten years of service with Kernaghan Adjusters, Steve has established himself as a key member of the management team.
