Russell Fitzgerald’s insurance career started in 1994 in the claims department with Canada West Insurance, which later became Allianz Insurance. The foundation for Russ’ success as a transportation specialist is rooted in the claims education he gained at Canada West. His enthusiasm for learning and his ability to apply sound judgment to his claims adjudications are the strengths that moved his career forward quickly.

In 2001, Russ transitioned into the independent adjusting field where he gained seven years of experience working for three major independent adjusting firms in Edmonton. Kernaghan Adjusters was very pleased to have Russ join and accept the role of our Edmonton Branch Manager in August 2008.

Russ specializes in the fields of commercial transportation, equipment (to include industrial, logging and oilfield), cargo losses (whether marine cargo or inland cargo), cargo surveys, downtime claims and auto property claims. He handles environmental claims, in particular as they are relate to transportation losses. General Property claims for both personal lines and commercial lines are also part of his professional skill set.

Russ holds a Level 3 Adjusting License and has obtained his CIP designation with the Insurance Institute of Canada. He is a member of the Canadian Independent Adjusters Association and the CIP Society.

Russ is a member of the Fort Saskatchewan Motorcycle Association that works tirelessly to raise funds for the Cross Cancer Institute of Alberta. Russ has gained Certification in Respirator Training, H2S Alive, WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems) and Fall Protection.

Russ takes particular pride in his ability to develop strong business relationships with insurers, self-insured clients, brokers and his staff. This strength coupled with his affable personality and attention to claim detail makes him an excellent manager, mentor and member of the KA team both in Edmonton and our National Management Team.
