Jon’s insurance career began in 2013 as a broker. His responsibility was getting to know the needs of his personal and commercial clients intimately to find the right insurance coverage for them. He matched various manufacturers, restaurants, and contractors with auto, property, and CGL policies that best fulfilled their needs. Jon excelled and building and maintaining valuable relationships built on trust and integrity with his client base.

Jon believed that his true interests lay in claims handling. He accepted his first position as an auto adjuster handling first and third-party claims under personal, small business, and fleet policies. Jon soon expanded his expertise into casualty, managing injury claims, and routinely attending settlement meetings, mediations, and judicial dispute resolutions.

After seven years adjusting claims, Jon accepted a new role as part of the Special Investigations Unit at one of Canada’s largest insurers. Here, Jon investigated and resolved an array of different claim types and scenarios, the majority of which were fraudulent or not covered. Within two years, Jon was promoted to Claims Examiner.

Jon joined Kernaghan Adjusters in July, 2022 as a Multi-Line Adjuster. After working from home for a prolonged period examining files, Jon cites getting back out on the road, meeting people face-to-face, and helping insureds back on their feet after a loss as the reasons he will always love being an adjuster.
